ROJAS, created by Freddie Rojas, was a favourite of many locals, but as a show it was devastatingly difficult to get a full sense of his work, without getting annoyed by the situation. Rojas, who designs for Private as well, was an inspiration of deconstructed punk attitude. The show was edgy in a small runway leading to pedestals where the models methodically and quickly jerked in a rotation for viewing. Very space-age and robotic, however, due to positioning, their movements were too quick for the cameras to catch without video. Slashed seams and edges, instead of precisely cut hems. The hair was a perfectly tight pin curl with dramatic dark make-up creating a cutesy-tough image. Avant-garde and creative, Rojas definitely entertained, but his was not very wearable for the masses—this is supreme fashionista territory only, perfect for LA.”
